The WorkCentre Pro 412 Laser Printer – A Reliable Multifunction Tool
The Xerox WorkCentre Pro 412 printer can do more than just monochrome printing. It’s also a copier, scanner and fax machine all in a single unit. What’s more impressive is everything’s contained within a compact form factor. Its enclosure measures 21 inches x 17 inches x 18 inches (W x D x H) and weighs 55 pounds only. Up to 12 pages a minute can be produced by the machine as a black-and-white laser printer. To yield sharp letters and well-detailed grayscale graphics, it uses a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi and high quality Xerox WorkCentre Pro compatible cartridge. Both USB and IEEE-1284 parallel ports are present. Installation to a computer is breezy as it can support many different operating systems. Two-sided printing is a cinch because of the integrated duplex unit.
An assortment of media kinds and measurements can be worked on. It supports ordinary paper, envelopes, card stocks, labels, transparencies and others. It can handle media measurements from as small as 5″ x 7″ to as large as 8.5″ x 14″. Combined media input handling capacity of this machine is equivalent to 650 sheets. There’s a bypass tray (100 sheets) and another standard tray (500 sheets) available.
Produce copies of documents at speeds of as much as 12 pages every minute. It takes less than 15 seconds for the first page to be out. The variable platen cover and automated document feeder let the copier side of the WorkCentre Pro 412 handle books or single pages. Create two-sided copies of one-sided documents to minimize paper usage. Electronic collation capability of the machine saves you from having to manually sort copies.
Varying scanning resolutions may be used. Aside from black-and-white documents, it can also scan colored ones at a rate of 120 pages a minute (using 300 x 300 dpi). Color depths available are 10-bit grayscale and 32-bit colored. There’s a duo of helpful software around. Edit scanned documents using the Textbridge Pro OCR while managing them with PaperPort on your computer.
Fax transmission speed is set at 3 seconds per page, thanks to the 33.6 Kbps modem around. This machine uses 4MB of its memory for carrying out faxing tasks at an impressive pace. What’s more, there are 80 programmable speed dials and group dials available. Create and edit phonebook entries or supervise fax usage with your computer. Such is made possible by means of the Xerox ControlCentre software.
A 16MB memory is shared by the many different functions of this machine. Installing a fast Ethernet print server card (sold separately) lets a workgroup share the unit. The Xerox CentreDirect and ControlCentre utilities allow for efficient management of the device, especially when hooked up to a network of computers. Despite of its capabilities, the intuitive control panel makes operation hassle-free.
