Position Pancake
When did you first get your Biellman spin?

i’ve been skating for about 3 to 4 years not (i’m 11) i live in newmarket ontario, in newmarket skating club (like that even matters lol) i’m currently in freeskate 5 and i can do a upriight spin, scratch, camel, sit and pancake (seriously, pancake, that’s what it’s called). People say i’m very flexible because i can do you splits very well and i have the highest Y frame in my entire session. but still, when i tried to do my biellman spin position on the ground(i have the right position) but, i can only hold it with 1 hand and it’s not very high. how can i get to the point when it’s high and i can hold it for long. And when you think i’ll be able to get the Biellman spin?

P.s. can any one here do a pearl spin? :P

After 6 years of Skating, I still cannot do my Beilman spin consistently. If I manage to get both hand on my foot and bring it above my head, i usualy slow down, manage to get one rotation and fall out of it.

It is very difficult

Many people tell me I need more of a “thrust” when i start to bring it over my head. And You need balance and you need to be very flexible. It takes lots of practice (i have been working on this specific spin for 9 months and usually fall out f it)

A few suggestions that i have received that you ight find helpful

1.I have heard it is alot easier to bring a beilman out of a camel instead of a haircutter. So practice speed on your camel and your layback.

2. Before and after practice, streach your beilman, your haircutter, and your “donut” positions

3. Streach your back alot, it helps with the “bending back:” part of the beilman

4, practice your backward and forward beillman on ice you will eventually get balance and speed.

5.Consult your coach

Hope you get it! It is a beautiful spin and when its done correctly its marvelous.
BTW I cannot do a pearl spin
