Hoppes Lubricating
I cleaned my 92fs pistol but…?
I cleaned my whole gun with the Hoppes and lubricated the rail and inside with the clp. is that the right way to do it? oh and it also leaks the clp out of the sides of the gun. too much maybe?
Generally speaking, magazines don’t require a lot of maintenance unless you are in extremes of dust, dirt, or mud. Usually all you have to do is disassemble the magazine, place a very little dab of Hoppes #9 on a rag, wipe down the interior and exterior, and then get the magazine bone dry with a clean cloth. I recommend using something like Drop ‘L Do manufactured by LubeCon. Its a suspension of black molybdenum in alcohol. You apply just a drop to mating surfaces, run the slide a few time, and let air dry. The alcohol evaporates, and leaves a dry film of moly. Works on more than guns, too, but its become my favorite lubricant.
More to your question, yes, you’ve used way too much CLP if its dripping from the gun. Field strip and start wiping out the excess. That much CLP becomes an attractant for spooge, unburned powder, dust, dirt, etc., and defeats the entire purpose of lubricating a gun.
