How To Run A Successful Online Business Franchise – Getting Started

Copyright (c) 2009 Victoria Higgins

When someone gets started with an online business franchise, they are usually very high energy, seriously excited, and ready to do ‘whatever it takes’. They have seen the success that others have had with their franchises, and realise that they too can do the same, to achieve the same results. The model of a business franchise, and why they are often so popular, is because the particular model has been proven to work, and that anyone who follows the same rules, can have success.

How can you get started right out of the gate, so that you can be on the right path to success? Here are a few tips that have been learnt along the way.

1. Expect success – You really need to expect success to happen for you, to make it happen. This might sound like a bit of a ‘pie in the sky’ kind of thought, but it is actually true. The people who have been successful in your business franchise, are the ones who just ‘knew’ it was going to work. They expected to achieve great results. They identified with their business and knew it would produce the results if they just stuck to their plan.

2. Set goals – This is where you need to get really specific. Why? Because most people never really decide on exactly what they want. Some people give their goals a fleeting thought, but most never get really specific and commit their dreams and desires to writing. Many would spend more time planning a party or writing a Christmas list, than they would on writing specific and measureable goals. This is unfortunate because the number one reason for failure in business, and life in fact, is the lack of clearly defined, written goals. Without having these goals written down, the franchise can become like a ship without a rudder, just drifting along and going with the flow. This way it will never achieve the journey to success, which was ‘hoped for’ at the beginning.

3. Take action – Once you have a list of specific measureable goals, which is where you want to end up, I bet you can guess the next part of the journey. Get a plan of action in place. Some of the goals that you have written might seem ‘huge’ to you at the moment. Well they say that the only way to ear an elephant is one bite at a time. So you need to break those great big goals down into manageable bite size parts. A plan of action or a ‘daily method of operation (DMO) is what will really rocket you to success with your home business franchise.

4. Review – You will need to take the time to review what is working, and what isn’t working along the way. It is all very well that you have done the above steps, and are taking lots of action. But if the actions aren’t starting to achieve the results you desire, then you need to make sure you take a look at what your DMO is, and if it is keeping you on the right path. Usually I will do this on a Friday afternoon, as I wind down for the weekend. I simply take a look at what is working, and improve upon the things that could be working a little better. Reviewing your business plan and actions is a constant process.
