All creatures are born with some essential gear for normal functioning, for example; body parts like limbs. And every profession designs and bestows their own unique work gear for the members of their fraternity to use. The better an individual’s ability to use his duty gear the right way, the more he will excel in his profession. Even a child cannot function without his proper gear, which may just be a slate and a pencil. While those responsible do ensure that a child gets quality material, in no other profession is duty gear so emphasized as in the case of army and police. Because of the sensitive and life-threatening type of work these law enforcement agents have to carry out, their gear is extremely important.
Policemen have specially designed duty gear for different duties that they perform, and also for tackling different situations. For example, the gear for riot control police will include things like gas masks, ballistic vests, visor, riot shield, and riot protection helmet. A ballistic or bulletproof vest offers protection from bullets, shrapnel, and other explosives, while riot shield and riot protection helmet also provide protection from similar impacts of various intensities. A plainclothes policeman might be at times discharging duties that are more important than a fully attired policeman armed with holster and helmet and rifle. Lack of visible duty gear is important for policemen in undercover operations where the culprits he is trying to track should not identify him. Policemen in mufti identify themselves, when necessary, by showing badges, or making visible any of their hidden duty gear items. Plainclothes policemen make arrests only during emergencies. Typically they call for a backup armed with all their visible gear to make arrests.
Many duty gear articles of policemen are so cleverly designed that a policeman can be armed without any visible signs of it. There are ankle holsters in which a gun can be easily hidden and there are boots with pouches in which a knife can be stashed. So even without any outward signs, a policeman may be discharging his duties and could also be doing it with cleverly concealed duty gear.
