Where to carry my baton for work?
I am a security guard currently and starting to build my duty belt. Right now the brand that I have decided to go with is the Bianchi AccuMold Elite in basket weave. I’m starting to look a little into the future right now for my carry options and have come up with a slight problem. I’m a left handed shooter but use my right hand for my baton. The predicament I face is where do i put every thing. What I want to end up carrying is a glock 17, double mag pouch, double cuff case, baton, taser, silent key holder, cell phone holder, glove pouch, oc case, and a small light preferably a NovaTac special operations. I would go with the Hindi system but because of my left handed shooting and right handed baton use it messes up the baton in front of taser idea. So how would you guys recommend I arranging my belt?
Carrying a sidearm and a taser on the same belt can be tough. One option I see city cops in my area do is carry the taser in a thigh holster further down the leg on the same side as the sidearm. Generally you need the most speed on the draw for the sidearm, whereas when you are deploying a taser, your usually getting it in hand ahead of time. Taser’s are single shot weapons, so they need to be used with a measure of control. An alternative is to carry it on your non-shooting side so you can either cross draw, or pass-draw (draw with the right and pass to the left hand).
Then, as for the baton, carry right side since you use it right handed. Depend on your draw style, you can have it up front canted to the right, or around the back canted outwards (sort of like a small-of-the-back draw)
